Need your computer fixed?

I don’t hold a technical degree in MIS or Computer Science. I’m a regular guy with a regular business degree. I know my way around computers, but some might say I know just enough to get myself into deep trouble.

Have you ever edited your registry based off of instructions you found on Google?

Have you ever tried to install Linux for a dual-boot setup? (Back in the day before easy LiveCDs that Ubuntu and others offer)

Have you ever tried to add a new heatsink to your processor?

I’ve done all of the above, and I’ve messed up my computer one way or another doing it. The Linux was the hardest to fix because I didn’t know squat about how to use Linux. A true learning experience.

Now if you find yourself with a broken computer — honest, it just stopped working — you might consider Firedog or the Geek Squad at one of the big box retailers. Of course, you might consider Fastteks computer troubleshooting. An independent service that isn’t directly tied to a mega-corporation (they do service for certain firms) might make you feel better about who was coming into your house and messing with your files.
