My Dad Loves the Cubs

Thanks for stopping by. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed and check out some popular articles.

The NCAA basketball tournament is over. Football has been done for quite some time. Baseball season is starting to kick into high gear. I’m not an outrageously huge fan of baseball to be honest. The games are long, and there are 162 of them. I don’t have time to watch that many baseball games.

But I can rally behind the cubs. Why the Cubs? No, I’ve never lived in Chicago. My Dad is from Illinois and is a huge Cubs fan. By huge I mean he yells at the television when they lose, not huge as in he flys up for every home game.

Growing up my Dad would always make excuses for the Cubs. “Wrigley Field is the only real ballpark left. None of that astroturf garbage that give the other teams advantages.” That must be the problem because they haven’t won a World Series in 100 years.

But no matter, going to a Cubs game is fun. We went one time on a trip to Chicago. A sad day, the Cubs were destroyed by 10 or 12 runs. But it was a good time.

I came across a new website called CubWorld. They sell a lot of memorabilia. Right now they have Chicago Cubs clothing on sale. So if you’re a Cubbie out there in the world somewhere, still rooting on the team, you might want to give them a shot.
