A general note

Thanks for stopping by. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed and check out some popular articles.

As a general note, I don’t necessarily support the views of all the companies that advertise with me on my various sites.

But I think that is widely accepted. For example, if I’m using Google AdSense to make money on a blog… Google may allow an ad on my page that I don’t necessarily believe in.

For example, I’m not picking sides in the Presidential race, but if a pro or anti-ad for either candidate popped up I might not agree with it.

The same applies to some posts I get paid to write or distribute.

Just a note.

Taking Control: Future Therapies for a Host of Serious Diseases May Be Found in Women’s Menstrual Blood

July 07, 2008: 01:28 PM EST

OLDSMAR, Fla., July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — With today’s hectic lifestyle, where most women are juggling careers, family, relationships, and a host of activities, the idea of possibly facing a serious illness in the future is not something that readily comes to mind — especially when a woman is in the prime of her life. But what most women don’t know, is that the key to treating a number of possibly life-threatening diseases that she, a parent, a sibling or even her children may face in later years, such as osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, may be found within her own body — in vital stem cells, which can now be harvested from her own menstrual blood.

Now, thanks to the revolutionary research and technology of C’elle, a service dedicated to providing women with a safe and easy method of collecting and preserving stem cells found in her menstrual fluid each month, even the busiest woman can take control of her future, right in the privacy of her own home. With C’elle’s non-invasive collection process, menstrual cells are processed and cryo-preserved (stored at a very low temperature) for potential cellular therapies that may be used in the future. These self-renewing cells one day may even be used for sports medicine or cosmeceutical treatments, such as anti-aging therapies.

“C’elle enables and empowers a woman to take control of her future health, and possibly of those genetically closest to her, in a fast, painless and stress free way,” said Michelle Kay, Marketing and Sales Manager for C’elle. “We live in exciting times, as science and technology are discovering how extremely valuable menstrual blood stem cells really are, and the enormous treatment potential they represent for future therapies. C’elle’s ongoing research is supporting these promising findings.”

So what do you think about all of this? I know there are companies out there that will cryogenically freeze just about anything you provide them. People are bringing in DNA from their beloved favorite family pets — cats, dogs, birds, you name it… in hopes that they can be cloned in the future. I’m not saying this is on the same line, but it does involve cryogenic freezing. If you clone a pet you can make it look the same, but not have the same personality.

So freezing pets is strange enough to me. I could see Leona Helmsley paying for something like that if she had lived longer. (I guess willing billions to your dogs is more than enough, though.) I think I’ve also read that some people have chosen to be cryogenicly frozen when it is their time to go in hopes that in the future they can be revived. Weird stuff.

But this sounds odd, but people are doing similar things with the umbilical cord from babies when they are born. The cord holds stem cells that could be used in the future. The idea applies here, as “icky” as it might sounds. And seriously, I think most people would find an umbilical cord “icky”, but that seems more normal.

I don’t really know enough to comment. I don’t understand a lot of the science behind it. But hey, maybe it works.

An eBook?

Or is it e-Book? Or E-Book?

Curious to see if anyone out there would be interested in learning how I’ve earned about $500-600 per month working online part time over the past few months. I’m not promising you a “failure free” and “easy — no work!” system.

Anyone out there in eBook land think it could  be successful?

I might need new glasses

Categories: Make Money Blogging

Yup, I might need new glasses. When I walk our dog in the morning, I don’t bother to take the time to put my contacts in. That would disrupt my morning routine. (I put them in after I shower, for the curious.) I’ve noticed that once I am fully awake, the prescription is off just enough to bother me if I wear them for extended periods of time. I may have to suck it up and go to the eye doctor to get a new prescription, followed by a pair of glasses from zennioptical.com.

I’m making a lot of money online these days

Categories: Make Money Blogging

I’ve neglected to mention it, but since I started focusing on making money online I have grossed almost $2,000. That’s $2,000 since the middle of April. Not a bank account breaking amount, but definitely healthy even once I account for taking out 25% personal taxes. I haven’t incorporated yet, but plan to.

I can’t decide if I should leave this as my personal blog and open up a new blog about making money. Still contemplating that.

If you need new glasses…

Then don’t get them from the eye doctor. There is a lot of overhead and profit involved when you buy from a retailer. This was emphasized to me this morning as one of the larger eye doctor offices (with multiple locations) ran a one or two minute advertisement on television. The ad was for their “2008 Fashion Show” and truly ran for a long time. It may have been longer than two minutes. It showed off models wearing stylish frames and ended with the owner in a three piece suit urging you to come.

All I could think of was “Wow, so my glasses and contacts dollars are going to that?” The ad slot could not have been inexpensive as it was right in the middle of the morning time slot. If I ever need glasses again I am going to try an online store like zennioptical.com.

Making Money Blogging with Digivate

Categories: Make Money Blogging

I was approached by a new company to make money with one of my blogs. The company is Digivate. What they do is give you a plugin to put in your Wordpress blog, and a list of links that go with the plugin.

The plugin will put a little bit of text at the bottom of all of your posts with links that point to Digivate’s clients’ websites.

The amount of money you earned is tied to:

  • how many posts you have
  • what your current page rank is

For example, as I’ve just started using them I am in the PR3 (or less) category, with 50-100 posts. I’ll earn $40/month with that current setup. As I post more and get to 250 posts, I bump up to $55/month. You can see the full sponsorship rates at their site.

I’ve had a great experience thus far. My representative that I have been working with has communicated very quickly with me. On top of the monthly rate, if you agree to work with them for 3 months they will kick in an extra $50. So for three months, if you qualify for the lowest section, you’ll earn (3 x $40) + $50 = $170. Not too shabby, right?

I’m always interested in partnering up with solid firms that treat their customers fairly. I’ve not had a problem yet… communication lines are open and payments are on time. So give them a try when you monetize your blog.
